Why Michi exists

“I tried plenty of financial tracking apps, but none handled multiple currencies well or felt built for someone earning and managing money across borders. After years of juggling life in Japan, overseas accounts, investments, travel, and shared finances in an increasingly complicated spreadsheet, I decided to build my own. That became Michi.”

Questions before you begin

Is Michi free?

The core tracker is free, including accounts, transactions, investments, planning and shared access. Michi Insights requires Pro. Its ChatGPT connection is currently in private beta; chat inside Michi is coming soon.

Do I need to live in Japan?

No. Michi began with the needs of people living across Japan and other countries, but it works wherever your financial life is based.

Is my financial data private?

A tracker is visible only to its approved members. If you connect Michi to ChatGPT, you explicitly authorize read-only access to a selected tracker. Michi does not sell financial data or use it for advertising.

Which currencies are supported?

Michi supports multiple account and display currencies. Available exchange rates are estimates; coverage and update times vary.

Can I import existing transactions?

Yes. Import a CSV from a bank or card, map its amount format, and review incomplete categories before saving.

Are calculations financial advice?

No. Michi helps organize data and estimates. Always verify important balances, exchange rates, taxes, and investment decisions independently.
